How Do You Identify Your Tug On The Radio?

When hailing another vessel or marina do you announce yourself as “Motor Vessel” or “Tug”?

I just identified by name. When they came back and asked for details, I would say motor vessel, overall length XX, etc.

When communicating with a lock or bridge, I preface the boat name with “Ranger Tug” so the facility operator knows what type of vessel to watch for. On the lakes and rivers in my area, a lot of people will address lock masters by simply stating “Sea Ray pleasure craft” with no name.

I also identify myself with the preface "Ranger Tug". I refer to the boat as "Ranger Tug Scout"...
