I'm thinking of taking my extended family on our R25 over thanksgiving weekend for a small spin on the Puget Sound. There is likely to be 8 adults (4 men and 4 women) and a child. Of course we will have life jackets for all of them. 🙂

I calculate some 1200 to 1300 lbs for these people.

Is this a safe load for our R25 ?

Is there any advice as to where these people should sit or stand wrt load distribution? Obviously they will not all be on the port side at once -- but if they were what would you advise ?

Thanks....

You bet, Plenty safe enough. I had 6 on a 22 ft c-dory once. It will cost a few knots in top speed tho. (My wife must load that much in junk when cruising.) I would not head out in the face of a perfect storm with eight passengers, in fact , I would not go out with eight except on a nice calm day.

I just remembered.......I had 14 on the Lucky Fin last month. I had 12 of the wedding party and one crew plus me. For my grandsons wedding. 🙂 Twas a bit lumpy too.

Darrell, Darrell, Darrell,
How can you blame all that "junk" on poor Miss Dee........ We know you are the one that carries all of that "stuff" on board!

We've had 11 on board with no problems. In fact it was quite comfortable!

We have done it at boat shows many times , Should not be a problem .

The Coast Guard forumula is length x beam/15 = the number of 150 lb people allowed in "normal" conditions.

So if you figure the beam at 8.5 feet, length 24.5 feet, then the number would be 14 people max in ideal conditons. Seems a bit crowded to me.
