Is it OK to just shut off the anti-freeze flow to the hot water heater and inside cabin heater via the two valves on the front of a D-4 or do you need to use a by pass hose so the flow pattern is not disturbed? I have a anti freeze leak and wish to eliminate the H2O heater and cabin heater. No sign of leak any were at least that I can find.

Thanks for any input

Page 12 of the owner’s manual says yes: • Close black handled coolant valves on front of engine if a leak is suspected in either the fresh water heater or forced air cabin heater. This will keep coolant inside of the engine where it is needed most.
Good luck running down the leak!

Thanks for the info. Should I assume you can run the engine with the heater flow cut off via the two valves for a long period (as in days) without any harm to system? I wish to use the boat for a week trip and I have no more time to continue to track down the leak.
