I'm considering ordering SL Maritime.
Is there anyone who knows the differences between ordering through the SL website or purchasing from an authorized vendor?
Specifically, I'd like to know
- if the prices are the same,
- if there are any service-related distinctions, and
- if anyone has experience purchasing from a reseller, could they share their technical support or any insights?
Thank you for your replies in advance.

Just a thought..the Maritime dish uses more power: 110-150w I think.. I have the standard dish with the ROAM plan and it works perfectly. I don't use it in motion but could opt in to a pay-as-you go offering from them if needed. Power draw is about 30-45w so I only have it on when I need it and use a Ecoflow battery with it so as to not draw down the house batteries.

I bought my HP dish from CampingWorld. The dish was the same price as SL website, but shipping was free and $100 on SL website, and was also next day delivery.

Marine service is 'guaranteed' to work on the water, where the roam/RV service is not. It does cost $200/month instead of $120/month. You need the high performance dish to get the marine service, they don't allow you to get it with a regular dish.

It does use more power - I have some details here when I installed mine

I've never turned on the priority in motion service that is $2/GB, but my service has never dropped, even cruising at 16 knots

I'm a huge tech guy and all I can say is do your research before you buy maritime.

Personally I use Roam flawlessly for west coast cruising with ZERO issues.

The biggest complaint I hear about maritime is your dedicated bandwidth you want to use on the ocean gets consumed so quickly when you use it while docked. You can not control this. If you read any Starlink forum or channel there is endless complaining about it.

My advice is if you are just cruising within a few miles of the shore most of the time then just get Roam with the basic dish. It works GREAT.

You can opt for the unlimited Maritime package.

Mobile – Global: unlimited Mobile Data includes coverage for marinas, ports, and inland areas (lakes, rivers, etc.), with an option to pay by the GB for Mobile Priority Data on the ocean. In-motion use for Mobile Data is limited to < 10mph.

Where do you boat at? What region do you intend to use Starlink?

Roam also offers the opt in for priority data by the GB.
