Hi,

I just purchased a used trailer for my 2012 R25SC, and am looking for advice on setting up the trailer bunks. There are not diagrams available for this model in the documentation page, but if anyone has a drawing to share I would great appreciate it.

Option 1 is to have by boat hauled and blocked at a local yard, take measurements of the hull, and adjust the bunks to fit. This seems the best and least risky, but will cost about 1 boat dollar.

Option 2 is to haul out the boat on the trailer with the bunks as is (they were for a different boat), just to the top of the ramp, measure the hull and put back in the water, but there is some risk of damaging something.

Option 3 is to find someone with a R25SC on a trailer within a few hundred miles of the SF Bay Area. If you happen to have a boat available for me to come and measure for a few hours, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your help,
Andrew

Option (4) Would be to contact the supplier for the trailers that the factory uses (I believe might be EasyLoader) and request there specific measurements for your boat model and year. The factory should be able to inform you who supplied trailers during the time your boat was built.
Hope this helps you with another option. Bob

Andrew, I hope your used trailer has a good sized center dip in the aft cross members to allow for the deep stern keel of the R-25SC. If not the bunks are going to be pretty tall and the boat will sit a bit top heavy on the trailer. High bunks would also cause launch and retrieve issues from needing to get the trailer so far down in the water. The R-25s are a pretty unique hull shape. That said, lots of trailer manufacturers build or have built trailers (Tuff, Float On, Shorelander and EZ Loader to name a few) for the R-25 Classic. You might try contacting EZ Loader for details. Good luck

Great advice - thank you.

I will see what info I can get from EZ Loader, and knew about the importance of the center dip in the cross members so it should work well.

Thank you,
Andrew

I have the same boat and bought a trailer from Tuff 3 or 4 years ago. They had the spec’s and it fit perfectly without having to adjust anything when it arrived. It might be worth a call to them.

2islanders,
Ha ha that’s funny. Tuff made their first R-25 Classic trailer for us in 2015. Took their entire crew 8 hours to get the bunks adjusted right after we brought the boat back to them on their trailer after initially guessing the bunks.Their first guess was terrible but after the adjustments the trailer was great.
I guess you got the benefits of our eight hour wait!

What model of Tuff trailer did you get?

Doug,
It was a modified Tuff TSA8500T tandem with an 8500 pound load rating. The trailer weighed in at 2050 pounds with the spare. It wasn’t the normal TSA8500T because it had a shallow but wide aluminum channel running the full length that the keel rested on. Four bunks but a lot of the weight was on that center keel support. It was a super beefy trailer - hundreds of pounds heavier than the comparable EZ Loader or Float On trailers for the R-25!

PS: This was back in the day of the prior owner (Danny) of Tuff when the factory location was miles north of the current location.

Interesting- same model trailer still in 2018 but they did away with keel channel. It sits only on the bunks. Glad they figured out the bunk heights for mine. Literally loaded it on and drove away[emoji3]
