Hello all.
Has anyone other than the gent with.. was it "Lemon Drop" had any unusual hull issues on Rangers or Cutwaters? Particularly those with larger models that tow quite a bit?
I'm expecting few results here but wanted to throw it out there.

Cheers, The Bolton Wanderer.

2015 R31-CB - never tow it and no hull issues, although I am not sure what you're referring to.

Not the largest model but we tow our C-28 about 1,400 miles a year. We towed our R-25 Classic about 1,600 miles a year for the 7 years we owned it.
Washington state roads are particularly bad.
We have had a few problems with fittings vibrating loose (eg hatch tension knobs, screens falling, hot water tank outlet hose coming off, cabinetry trim coming loose, etc) but nothing serious and certainly no hull issues. We have a triple axle EZ Loader trailer.
We towed up from Southern Oregon to Bellingham WA on Saturday (about 550 miles) and the only issue was a one gallon water jug placed under the dining table rupturing and spilling water into the cabin floor.
As for non-towing hull issues, we hit some unforecasted really bad seas in the Malaspina Strait last year. I could see the hull flexing significantly up and down as we went through the 3-4 ft (5 sec) waves. Broke the starboard cockpit seat plywood base, destroyed a portable freezer in the cockpit, tore the anchor loose from its restraint and it hit the bow a few times, and broke a few things in the cabin that weren’t bolted down. All the damage done was pretty easily repaired or replaced. Talked to the factory about the flexing I saw and was told it engineered into the design and nothing to be concerned about. I was truly IMPRESSED with the boat’s performance in those conditions!

Thanks for the replies. I was referring to the cracks a guy had from the boat being on blocks (Apparently)..
Boat name Lemon Aid, sorry, not Lemon Drop.

I suspected there would be little response to this question and there would be little reported issues.
The idea of "Flex" being an integral part of the design, speaks to aircraft wings, Helicopter rotors, and even tall buildings. All of which need to move and flex and NOT be rigid.

Many Thanks,
The Bolton Wanderer.

By the way Glider4, that sounds like gnarly sea states you've been in!
The C28 is definitely a consideration form towing and cost stand point.

I believe the information your seeking can be found on the Trawler Forum under (Lemon Aid R-27 tug) it is my understanding that Mr Dave Cook has been restricted from posting any information about it on this forum, and original posts have been taken down. Just my understanding! Bob
