Is the Hull Number the last 3 digits of the Hull Identification Number?

Are you referring to the HID (Hull Identification Number) ? If so it's the complete number.

If you're want to know the factory hull/mold number that indicates how many hulls have been molded including yours then here's my understanding.....

My full HID for my new R-27/OB boat is US-FMLT2717E718. The middle 4 digits are "2717". The "27" signifies my boat's model as R-27. The "17" is the mold hull number +10. So my hull mold was the 7th one created in 2018. RT starts hull mold numbers at 10 and not zero (0) and I believe starts the number over again at the beginning of each year. So for the new R-27/OB model the hull/mold number 1 would have I believe an HID = US-FMLT2711E718.

The trailing last 2 digit (in the above example) indicate I believe the model year or the year in which the hull was molded in.

I looked up my HID for my previous 2016 R-21EC. It was FMLT2109G516. Thus.... my above explanation does not hold as the 2 digits following the "21" are "09". 🙁 However, it could be that RT has simply altered the way they convey hull/mold number for the new R-27/OB models for distinguishing it from the R-27 (Classic) model hull/HIDs.

baz,
Is this Common Core math? LOL
If you were to answer this question for the World of Ranger Tugs Map:

Boat model / hull# / model year
R-27 #7 2018

Correct?

OK Barry.
Where you have 2717, I have 2307. I guess I'm going with #7.
Thanks for your help!

Not sure if this will crack the code, but here is a break down provided by the factory for our former R-29 classic:

Hull # US-FMLT2916H112

US-FMLT US Fluid Motion
29 length
16 16th boat built this model year
H 8th month / August build began
1 2011 calendar year
12 model year 2012

Cheers,

Bruce

Hi guys: no doubt you all would be aware of this site, but I had the same queries some time ago when I was having difficulty interpreting the HIN# on my 2010 R21-EC. I did some research on the USCG website. They have a complete breakdown of Manufacturer's Identification Codes (MIC) and Hull Identification Numbers (HIN), together with how/where they are to be displayed, how they are obtained and what each character signifies. Very useful information too. If you have already found this, then please disregard. Thought you might find this handy though. Kind regards, Stevan.

Maybe here - http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm

My HIN for my R-27/OB delivered to me Aug 16, 2018 is FMLT2717E718

HIN Format After August 1, 1984

Manufacturers ID code (3 chars) = FML (Assume Fluid Motion LLC)
Hull serial Number (4 chars) = T2717 = "T" ???, 27 = Boat Model, Hull Number 17 but suspect my hull was the 7th one molded.
Date of Certification or Manufacture (2 chars) = E7 = May 7
Model Years (2 chars) = 18 = 2018
