Hello Tugnuts,
It has been quite sometime since I have posted anything on this site. Although, I am not a Ranger Tug owner I do admire the boats and the people who own them.

I returned to Colorado from New York On Oct. 18. The following week the hurricane hit, and as you all know it hit hard. My wife and I spent a few days packing our boat up(Avenger 39 Motoryacht) and brought the boat over to our winter Marina in Freeport,New York. The boat was hauled, bottom washed, winterized by the marina, and shrunk wrapped the following day.

I knew the hurricane was coming, but I did not have too many concerns, afterall the water would never get high enough to float off her stands. The water did get high. Not only high enough to float, but the water was at least another eight feet above that. My closest calculation from pictures that people had sent me and water marks I believe it was at least 10 feet.

all the boats, and I mean all that were up on blocks o. The other side of the marina floated down towqrd my side. I had a least a half dozen boats resting along mine in a jumbled mess. My boat was holed in three places on the bottom. All very significant. I had gunnel damage and stanchions pulled out. My dinghy was ripped from its chocks and is somewhere, exact location is not known. I had a dock box at may summer marina which was broken into and had items stolen. that marina is in a shambles with the roof of a house floating in the middle.

I'm dealing with the insurqnce company right now and they are sending out a surveyor to ascertain the damage. The surveyor is not ABYC or NAMS certified. I found out the whole operation is awful.

I just feel so helpless not being there. I will go as soon as I can find a place to stay, and be able to rent a car. I believe my boat may be totaled, and if so, I will be out a lot. My problems are pale by comparison to some of my friends who have lost their homes and cars. Luckily, not their lives. This to shall come to pass, but things will never be the same back there.

Enjoy cruising,
Jeff

I hope everything works out for you. Boats can be replaced and the good part is you are safe.

Yes , you are ok, and it is a loss but is your boat, not a house you are living in.. I hope all works out. Take as many pictures as you can to use later as the more you can back up your claim with the better off you will be. I am sorry to hear of your and other losses I just can't imagine what this would be like , and hope I never do
Good luck.

We are so sorry to hear how affected you are in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The blessing is that no one was hurt, boats can be replaced, but people can't. We will keep you in our prayers.
