Just so you know, I'm a better mechanic, not an electrician. Here’s what I have going. In the middle of the night I noticed that the Garmin auto pilot display was on, for how long, I’m not sure, but I was reasonably certain it wasn’t on when I went to bed. All my switches are off however the NMEA switch light was on, even though it was in the off position. I flipped it on and off and nothing happens other than the light stayed on. I made sure the ignition was off and that made no difference. I turn the house batteries off and it still stayed on, both the switch light and the display.

I just pulled the Wabasto and cleaned all the soot out and got it back running. I did that earlier in the day. I'm not sure if there was wiring on that side of the boat that I may have pushed around causing this problem. I don’t think so, but maybe, thoughts? I think the switch itself is bad and needs to be replaced. If so, do they just pop out? OR, does anyone have any other idea that I might take a look at and remedy the problem? Thanks

Hi Rod,

Go to settings in your Fusion Stereo. Check to see if NRX Power is turned on. If it is, turn it off and see if that solves the problem. NRX Power puts 12volts out onto the NMEA power bus.

I hope this helps.

I’ve had the same issue finding my Garmin suddenly powered up. On my boat it seems to happen when I’ve shut off shore power and then reconnect shore power. Don’t ask me to explain why but that’s my case. I always check the Garmin now when I disconnect.

I think your post might just be the issue. I was messing around with that power feature after I was patting myself on the back for getting the Wabasto up and running again! I will run by the boat tomorrow and take a look at that. What weird little secret!

I had a similar issue. There's a setting on my my 8612 to automatically power up when the power (house) is turned on. You can turn this off.

Curt,
You're the best! I got off work this morning and drove to the boat and turned off the NRX and display went off with no other input.

Thanks to others for offering your input as well.

Rod
