that no one from the Ranger factory actually reads/responds to topics here? A bit misleading, for a forum if that's the case....

I see posts within the last week from Ralf Henkel - Customer Service. It looks like they are still here, just selective with where they can help.

Hi jmcelwee - I'm the volunteer moderator for this forum and I can assure you all posts directed to the factory are forwarded directly to the team. I read and route them twice a day. That said, I know their limited computer time makes it difficult to respond to every request in a timely fashion.

I suggest a few things. Contact your local dealer who is likely to have experience modifying as-built boats; include your model year in your post so other members of the forum may be able to share their experience; make direct contact with the factory.

Thanks,

Bruce

Jmcelwee,
The factory is usually pretty good about responding to posts on this forum. Sometimes they are busy and the response takes awhile if it’s not an emergency situation. As Bruce and others mentioned if you need a fast answer it’s better to contact them directly.
All that said, you are asking about making a significant modification to your boats plumbing system. In my C-28 it would be a big deal to convert the head to fresh water. A lot of tight spaces and difficult access would be involved. The R-31 may be different.
I can understand the factory’s possible reluctance to help you design this modification. To my mind it’s like calling Ford and telling them you need help redesigning your trucks braking system. (That’s an extreme example of course.) Definitely cost and liability concerns might limit Ford’s cooperation to get involved.
I know a number of FM owners have made this mod so I know it’s possible on a number of RT and Cutwater models. Hope it goes smoothly for you!

You may want to repost in the chat so other users see it

Great, thanks all. I'd suggest that converting a head to sea/fresh water is actually a pretty minor modification to a boat, and my question is really about access. Obviously i can get in there and open up everything myself, remove refigerators, etc, but was hoping someone had insight that might help direct.

I'll reach out to Ranger Tugs and my local dealer directly for more info.

Ivan Guzman has always answered my emails within a one day cycle at most ... sometimes I get a reply in minutes .... I have had nothing but exceptional support from RT .... keep trying ... they might be dealing with vacations and things like that ... I know when I used to run a tech support center, if we were one or two down, it was a really big impact on our cycle time .... DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!

I have only had brilliant response times from the Ranger Tug folks. Even before I owned my Ranger Tug they responded quickly to a few questions I had during my marine survey. The fact they offer this portal and direct access to the factory is pretty amazing. IMHO.
