We have a 2008 Ranger 25 and have a question regarding the ignition alarm system.
When you start the main engine should an alarm (buzzer) sound?
Ours does not and on previous vessels we have owned a safety alarm sounds til the engine starts and comes up to pressure.
Any thoughts?

Mine makes the noise for a half-second as I turn the key. 2008 R25 110 Yanmar.

Hello Jerry,

I believe that an audible alarm should be sounding until the engine is up and running. I would suggest contacting a local Yanmar dealer to verify and have it looked at.

Thanks Jerry,

I had this problem on my Ranger 21 a couple of years ago.
The alarm had normally sounded once I turned the key on until the engine had run for just a few seconds, then the warning would stop.
Then I noticed that when I turned the key on, I did not get the warning. This seemed wrong to me.
Working with my dealer and also Ranger Tugs we determined that the issue was a loose pickup on the Yanmar block
Tightening the pickup solved the problem.
I turn the key on, get the warning until the engine has run for a few seconds and then the warning stops

Assuming you have a Yanmar. Yes, be alarms should sound until the engine is started. When you push the stop button the alarms should sound until you turn the key to the off position. Our alarms are for the oil pressure sensor and temperature sensor. The connection at the sensors can become loose/corroded. In addition, there is a connector at the back of the engine that can corrode. for one of the sensors I had to run a bypass wire around the connector.
