I had a thought the other day. (Like I said, it hasn't happened.)
What happens if the forward hatch, over the v-berth, is left open in the rain, or if it takes a big gulp of water during rough weather (when it should have been tightly closed? The water that ends up on the lower deck could pile up pretty deep, couldn't it? I haven't seen any drains that lead aft unless there is something under the flooring.

There are little drains in the storage area under the port and starboard v-berths but that is all I've seen.
Just asking.

There are drains that get the water back to the bilge where it gets pumped out..If you got a ton of water in the bed would sponge it all up anyways 🙂 would probably not make it far from there .

I'm going back out on the boat this afternoon. I'll take a closer look.

On the bow on you see some stainless covers about 1.5ft below deck. That is the drain of the chainlocker. I think it is connected by a hose and part of the annual maintenance it is prudent to stick some thin drain opener through to clear any mud or debris. Flush with water to test speed of drainage

You can use a hair drain remover as sold at osh or Home Depot which is a flexible thin device with seration that grab on to hair in a drain

Ya, when I got my boat that was one of the first things I noticed. The chain locker and the drain were pretty muddied up. It's hard to keep mud out of there when you anchor in the Chesapeake Bay.

On the floor drain issue: I have no weep holes. The floorboards seem to be pretty permanently attached to the floor. The closest thing to a possible drainage point is just under the small step-down from the main cabin to the v-berth. The step is part of the main deck and the v-berth floor is a separate molded part. Once the water level reached a level of about six inches, I think any additional water would go over the falls toward the bilge.

I'm not too worried. Mostly curious.
Thanks, all.
