I have an R-29 2016 with 600 hrs. How often should I be replacing my impeller on water cooling system? thanks for all answers

Short answer: Every single year.
Longer answer: VP maintenance schedule says to inspect every 200 hours or every 12 months whichever comes first. Replace the impeller every 24 months.
But if you’re going to truly inspect every 12 months/ 200 hours you might as well replace every 12 months because inspection is 90% of the work compared to replacement.

I replace mine every 2 years no matter what. But thats just me 😉

If you have a water pressure gauge setup, you can check WP and you'll know if it wears prematurely (like you get a load of sand or mud) and maybe skip the annual inspection. But generally two years. Once you change one, you'll get a general idea of how the impeller wears in your area. Anytime I've gone longer than two years the rubber starts to show cracks.

There’s also a usage factor. When we used to live in a climate with cold winters and laid up the boat on the hard for 4 or 5 months the impeller would take a ‘set’ rendering it useless in the Spring. We now run at least every two weeks throughout the year (except for a three week vacation 🙂) and don’t have that problem. I do change every 2 years but the impeller coming out is like new.

I agree with this advice.

Every 2 years. Also change the belts at the same time, regardless of hours. Yanmar 6BY2-260.
