Guys,

Where is the in-line fuse for the heater on my R-21. My heater stopped working and I thought it was the switch. It turned out to be okay. I can't find it in the starboard side cabinet, it does not appear to be in the fuse block. Is it under there are somewhere the engine compartment. I have one the last R-21's before the EC model.

Thanks

Mark, what kind of "heater"? If it's a Wallas stove/heater, they are connected directly to the battery so you cannot inadvertently turn them off while they are in the cooling mode after having been run. If so, look at the battery itself, there should be two extra wires on the positive terminal, one for the bilge pump (switched through an automatic float switch on the pump itself) and the second run directly to the Wallas stove/heater. The fuses for both should be in little fixtures near the battery (either glass fuses or plastic blade fuses). Be sure to use the same size if you find one blown.

I would suggest trying to follow the wire coming from the heater. I have seen on some of the older tugs that they use an inline fuse next to the fuse block and not in the fuse block. Check the back of the switch as well to make sure you didnt lose any connections.

I found out the problem. The wire was pulled away from the fuse block. I checked the fuse itself and it was okay. The brass connector had popped off the block and while looking directly at it, it appeared to be inserted onto the block. The zip ties help it in place and helped make the whole wiring look correct. I cut off the zip tie and the loose wire dropped down. It was right in front of me the entire time.

Thanks
