Has anyone ever installed an inclinometer on their tug?

Yes… I installed it above the wheel on the console lip. I find I really don't use it that much, but is useful when docked in calm waters to give me some idea if the boat is balanced and not listing significantly.

When we have 6 adults onboard I do find the boat will list noticeably to port as most adults are on that side of the boat.

there's a neat little app for the iPhone called Clinometer, that includes a bubble level as well as clinometer, that could be used on the boat as well.

I use a RAM suction iPhone mount at helm station that can be mounted almost anywhere if needed.

I was thinking an inclinometer would be handy when trimming the boat. Thoughts?

I have one installed, can't comment on using it to trim due to the fact I don't have train tabs on boat! But I find at about 15 to 20 degrees my crew will man the rails calling for the Chum-God, which is the same time my ships bell will start ringing by itself. Which is a good indicator for me to head back to port as we've had enough fun for that day! You can see on my photo album with ships bell photo.

I use the same one as Water Bill. Very low tech, and works very well. I've been able to trim level with 3 people sitting on the port side and me on starboard.
