Has anyone used a product such as https://fabdock.com/ with their Ranger? I realize having an inboard (R29CB) will mean no stern-in arrangements and customization of the inflatable dock to accommodate the running gear.

Looks interesting, I wonder what it costs?? I suspect it is not cheap.

Tongue in cheek reply: I have something that accomplishes the same thing - a trailer!

Serious reply: I’ve frequently wondered why a bunch of trailerless RT owners in the same geographic area don’t form a syndicate to share ownership of a trailer. The initial and recurring costs of a trailer spread over 4 or more owners is pretty low. Work out some sort of reserved time allowance per owner. Yes there’s maintenance on a trailer but it’s minimal compared to the boat maintenance. I think a shared trailer might work for boats up to the R29 in size.
With a shared trailer there would be no more diver fees to change zinks, yard fees to bottom paint, etc. I think a shared trailer could pay for itself over a period of time.

The only issue with sharing is that peoples' boat ownership changes over time, people move about, and their situations can change. This makes sharing complex, stressful, uncertain, and use of trailer being needed being at times in conflict with the others sharing it.

A good suggestion nonetheless, as is the suggestion of sharing boat ownership. But, it's not as simple as it sounds.

Interesting idea. An alternative would be for someone with a trailer to just rent it out when they have their boat in the water. Someone could make a little extra cash to cover the expenses of owning the trailer and it would eliminate the hassles of shared ownership. Liability would be an issue. Renting a trailer for a few days for maintenance would be a lot cheaper than yard fees.

What I would like to see is a boat-hauling company that will take your boat to/from anyplace on the continental U.S. for a reasonable fee.

I just got a used R-29 with no trailer and am looking for a company that will haul the boat to Green Bay, Wisc. in August 2021 so I can take a year and do the Great American Loop.

I would also pay for a company to take my boat (which is located in the Pacific Northwest) to/from LaPaz or Cabo San Lucas, Mexico so I could spend 3-5 months cruising the Sea of Cortez.

Anybody know of any such firms?

We actually worked with Dean, the owner of FabDock, at their display at the Ft Lauderdale boat show in 2019. There product is made in Australia. We were very impressed with it and watched an installation for a 42’ Boston Whaler in Hutchinson Island marina as well. About $9,000 for our Cutwater C24, which includes delivery and installation of the DC motor system connected to your boat batteries as the pumps work from your boat, not the dock. There is a dealer in the Northeast that would travel to assist the setup. The dock has withstood cyclones in Australia. The bottom material is from Israel and it has amazing antifouling capabilities. The money saved on bottom paint and zincs, and the massive corrosion issue we have (started to eat our drain plug!!!) would have made it worth while for us. But We can’t find a marina here in the Melbourne Fl area that has the right set up, as in bow-in slip in decent shape. Our military marina manager flat out won’t allow it but had no good reason.
