Watching... I like this idea. It seems to me that additional freezer space would be a huge asset for longer trips and having access to frozen meals.

C30, replaced the cockpit ice maker with a dometic CRX50 stainless unit. Works on both 12v and 120v, and based on the setting can be a full fridge, fridge w/freezer compartment, or full freezer. Really changed the game for longer cruises. It was a snug fit, but it did fit.

Thanks that's awesome, going to the Bahamas in June have been there several times in the past. Always though it would nice if the cockpit ref. was a freezer. The inside ref. is plenty room enough for us. Where did you purchase your unit. THANKS

Originally I purchased it directly from a Dometic distributor, but it looks like West Marine actually has a few in stock in their warehouses Model # 17458290 Mfg # 9108915857 (specifically for the stainless steel version as the CRX50 comes in a few different trim options)
One thing I will mention is that when I ordered mine the actual stainless flush mount trim pieces were sold/ordered separately as they weren't included with the fridge. You would need to call Dometic to get the part number as I just let the dealer handle it.
