The insurance is up for renewal on my 2006 R-21EC and I am concerned it is underinsured. It has a decent trailer and about 600 hours on the Yanmar. Has the Bimini top, 1 burner butane stove, heat-craft cabin heater and Raymarine radar chart/plotter. No fridge, marine head (port-a-potti only) or bow thruster. Overall in very good condition. I am on Vancouver Island and the old policy values the boat at $34,000 CAD. But at the current exchange rates, that is only about $25,500 USD, which I think is pretty low. I think that somewhere around $32,000 USD would be closer to the mark. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Canadian insurers might be different, but my past insurers have required a hull survey if I want to increase my insured value. These can often be had for less than a full pre-purchase survey. Then you insure for the survey value. Might be worth thinking about.
