My wife and I are on the cusp of purchasing a R27 and I am trying to get some insurance quotes. I just got off the phone with Geico and the quote was $3000/year for 250k hull value, 300k lliability (I would go up to 1M but the price kind of blew me away) and 2% deductible. I am in Florida. What is everyone else paying? Who else should I check with?

I recommend you contact Global Marine Insurance at 800-748-0224 or sales@globalmarineinsurance.com
I have no business relationship with them but have used them to insure our boats for over a decade.

You should also check with Chubb. We have used them these past 5 years and they are very competitive.

Ii used Bob Schwab at Anchor Marine. He got me a Chubb policy for my R29 at a lot less--$1247.

We have Progressive, through USAA, for our C28 in Virginia. Total cost is <$1K/yr.

Global just got back to me at 4,158 annually.

Progressive told me they only insure up to $150k hull value. I had progressive on my sailboat so they were where I went first.

Check out Geico BoatUS and the policy includes TowBoat US. You don't need separate towing policy. Hard to compare coverage from different companies unless apples to apples. I had quoted that were double for same coverage. Had Geico for two years. Second year lowered $50 due to no claims. Policy is $899 includes $200 TowBoatUS.

I don't know if Progressive's offering is different since we got it through USAA, but our boat is insured to $215K.

It could be because you went through USAA. It could also be because I am in Florida (assuming you arent). I guess the two back to back stroms this year caused several insurance companies to pull out of Florida and the remaining companies have shot up. (Bob at Anchor Marine Insurance informed me of that)
