Just checking to see if anyone else is having issues with wear on the seats of their boat. We have a 2012 R 29 and have already had to change one cushion, and now two more.

I have the same era boat, and If you're referring to the dinette or helm seats, so far all is good on mine. I can't say they look like brand new but they're not too far off. The cushioning it good and the covering is almost due for its first real cleaning.

I am surprised how this stuff wears. Does not seem to hold up that well. The bigger problem is that the material they used is discontinued. Now I am faced with redoing the entire interior so everything matches. I have spoken to the supplier of the material, they have one roll left, 40 yards, and will not sell to anyone but a distributor. They also told me that the material was never recommended for marine use. Makes me fell that much better about the rest of the seating. Not sure what I will do at this point. It will cost a few thousand easily to redo the interior

Has anyone come across any seat-covers that might help extend the life of the upholstery? I have been looking to no avail.

I would rather have a material that holds up better. Car manufactures do it without much issue. I am researching material now. Guess I will be biting the bullet and redoing the interior

Our tug is new (Seattle Boat Show floor model 25sc), and while I certainly share your desire for more long-lasting fabric, I would like to go with some seat-covers as much as for cleanliness as longevity. So far, I have not found any that look to fit at least the helm seat.

I am the second owner of a lightly used 2011 R29, but have been a live aboard for 6 months. The upholstery looks just shy of brand new. It might be time for a gentle cleaner but that's it. I'm wondering what you have vs. what I have?

Our boat's cushions are all covered with Sunbrella. After 17 years and 6,000 hours on the engine, the original covers are still all in one piece, except for the bolster on the side of the helm seat that gets a lot of wear. We recovered that with leather. There's visible wear on the "bead" on the edge of several of the most-used ones, but I'm OK with that for the amount of used they've had.
