Introduction with some general questions

I lived aboard two very cold winters in the Detroit MI area. I installed an 18k BTU diesel furnace in my '88 Pearson 31. Clear Shrink wrapped it and installed a pocket door for easy access/egress. Denny O is right, the hull does transmit temperature, however I combated that by laying some "thin" pink panther foam insulation along the inside of the hull everywhere I could get to it and that made life very comfortable. The clear shrink wrap allowed the sun to heat the inside on the rare occasion that happened in Michigan. I also had a nice clubhouse to shower in, so as not to file an IFR flight plan inside the boat. Placed a ladder in the water to the dock just in case my impaired judgment left me swimming in the frigid night air. Kind of like the military, it was a great experience, but wouldn't want to do it again.

Have to say this was my favorite so far!! I can't count the number of times I've said this myself!

I'm definitely considering the shrink wrapping idea. As I'm frequenting other forums, I'm finding the same advice there.

I'm heading up to NYC next week and I'll be stopping by the marinas I'm targeting to stay in. I'm hoping to get some answers to questions I have but not holding my breath....no offense to people that live in that area, but the customer service up there is really lacking. I'll also be scoping out the accommodations....see how nice the showers / laundry services are.

scross, thanks for the list of measurements!! Very helpful!

Levitation, I appreciate your honesty. Although I myself would appreciate this adventure, I still need to consider my wife and her comfort...happy wife happy life.
