i have had 5 inverters fail. has anybody else had problems. I do use mine to make coffee, am I the only one?

So far, so good! I use mine to make coffee, run a hair dryer and run the microwave (only one appliance at a time, of course). What does the factory say?

our boat was delivered with a blown inverter.... the surveyor had tried to run the AC off it.

luckily many inverters (ours included) are easy to repair as a common failure is blown fuses protecting the outputs. never chuck a blown inverter without opening it up to see if a few fuses are all thats needed. ours uses six automotive bus style 35 amp fuses.

we use our generator for all cooking. hair driers are actually pretty high current devices. coffee makers are resistive loads, what is your java machine rated at? has it been measured? if you are blowing the protection on the inverter conventional wisdom has it you need a bigger unit or smaller load. they can also suck down a house battery pretty quick...

Factory and Bellingham Yachts (dealer) have been great. We did go to a less wattage maker - 900 watts. I'm thinking I'll just get a stove top perculator. I do have a Honda Generator I can bring, but as weight and space are a problem I am reluctant to bring it. Could add more batteries or higher Amphr but again weight and space.. could just change to beer!!!
