Inverter usage

I everyone - my wife and I just took delivery of our RT 29CB Luxury and we're thrilled with both the boat (Grey Lady) and with the RT community! I've had boats with battery chargers before but not inverters so please bear with me. I believe the way we will be using the boat will not require that much use from the inverter unless we have short term needs for AC power and don't want to start the generator. I'm thinking about simple shutting off the inverter feature until I know I'll need it and leaving the battery charger feature "on". I'm thinking this will eliminate the inverter kicking in while at anchor when we really don't need it. Does this sound reasonable? Am I looking at it correctly? If this answer has already been posted, please let me know.

As long as you turn off the inverter at the display after disconnecting shore power you should be fine. The inverter/charger will not come back on until shore power is hooked back up or you turn the inverter back on at the display.

Jay -- do you have separate inverter and charger or one of the combo Kisae units? If it is the latter combo unit, then in addition to what Kenny said, there is a mode "In0" that can be set to have the inverter off at all times regardless of shore power. Setting is slightly tricky; search for threads and follow the steps very exactly.

On our boat, I set that more than a year ago and have not seen a need to switch back. I could always reset it to In1 and use the inverter if desired but it will never be on by accident.
