invertor power to outlets, microwave etc

invertor question. I have a 2012 cutwater 26 and the boat is new to me. I am trying to get inverter to send power to outlets, micro, etc. i have tuned the inverter switch under hatch in stern to on, i have turned switch on power panel to inverter and have a light and gage is showing power. all batteries are off. i have no power at outlets or micro wave. i check fuse panel behind mirror in forward head and have two fuses that look like they are lit up? Is my problem the fuses?

I have a 2012 R27 which may (or may not) be similarly wired/configured. My order of operations to use the outlets or microwave when off shore power is:
1. Turn Inverter main service switch to ON (large red switch in battery locker).
2. Turn Inverter ON via the small remote panel at the helm (it has two vertical gauges that will light up). If successful you may hear a faint hum coming from the Inverter.
3. Turn the AC feed selector switch to Inverter. You should see around 75+ volts register on the AC panel voltmeter.
4. Turn the AC panel main switch ON. (This is the top rocker switch on my panel).
5. Turn the Microwave rocker switch on the AC panel to ON. (Microwave beeps).

I am also figure trying to figure out how and when to use the inverter on this boat. So when it is on “shore power” the inverter main unit comes on and makes a noise - not sure if that’s meant to be the case

Can someone who has a Cutwater tell me the how and when to use the inverter

My understanding is that if you are on Shore power there is no need to have your Inverter on. If you are truly on Shore power, and your battery charger is ON, you can pretty much run anything on the boat (sans inverter of course). Make sure the Inverter Remote Control panel is OFF in Step 2 described earlier. A good rule of thumb in dealing with all the electrical is to mentally / visually try to trace the power from its source, through the various cable runs, switches, panels, outlets and ultimately to your desired device. If you read the steps I provided earlier they do just that which I find really helpful. GF

The inverter is only needed if you want to run AC appliances and outlets (microwave, etc…) when NOT connected to shore power or a generator. It draws 12V power from the batteries, converts it to 110V and delivers it to the outlets. Your batteries need to be on/charged to power the inverter.

Thanks for these responses. Really helpful. My Cutwater doesn’t have an in error isolation switch on the control panel and when I switch on shore power the inverter control panel comes on automatically and makes a soft humming noise when it runs

As you say on shore power I didn’t think I needed the inverter on but will take a look at the suggested instructional video.
