iphone charger 21ec actually drains power from phone

Trying to charge my iphone using the jack beneath the helm seat and find out that it's actually draining my iphone battery rather than charging it! Any thoughts?

R u using a 12v cig lighter port for doing this ? If so what adapter r u using to convert from the ports to a USB connector ?

Does the iPhone top icon indicate it's charging or not ?

By draining do you mean the iPhone's battery level indicator percentage is decreasing with time ?

Engine running or not when this happens ?

Do you have another 12v device you can connect to see if it gets powered up ?

The % charge is going down. The charger is the same one I use successfully in my car. The few times I tried it the engine ws not running

Not sure if it would make a difference but perhaps the polarity of the plug is wrong. Ground wire should be connected to the outside tab. Power to the center pin.
