I’m hoping the answer is yes. We sucked up some plant material in the generator raw water intake. I emptied the strainer but there is material somewhere in the line. Is the water intake for the motor separate? I’m hoping that it is so this situation doesn’t effect operation of the motor.

Volvo, A/C, Genset all have own strainerS (4) on our CB31
FYI I had a new impeller installed on our Cummins /Onan Genset and it still gave a #7 on the panel means low pressure and shut off.

Then the Marina said it was a bad pressure switch and nope that was not it!

Then they stuck garden hose down base of strainer with strainer removed well whatever was in the thru hull grate must have been blown away and all was good 4 days later!

This was done while in water

Thank you NEDBETTY. We’re anchored in an area with loads of long aquatic plants. I pulled a bunch out of the strainer but there must be loads more in the line. I’ll try the hose method you suggested to see if that does the trick before I swim under the boat to inspect.

I was wondering when some form of KEELHAULING was going to come back in style!
Stay safe. Bob

I left that part out I actually had a diver look to see if any of the inlets were clogged and he didn’t see anything I know him quite well and he’s quite thorough so it must’ve been between the inlet and the strainer
