Just curious as to who out there has owned their current RT or CW boat for the longest amount of time.
2022 will be our 7th full season with Our Journey - a 2009 R25 Classic.
I suspect that Curt and Tracy of Red Raven have owned their R27 Classic even longer.
So, who out there holds the title for longest ownership?

Al, I've owned my R-21 EC a 2009 since 2013 about 9 years, my tow vehicle a 2003 f-350 since new, I drive a model A-Ford Tudor 1929, my wife is a 1950 model that I would love to trade in but can't afford the loss! Bob

Hi Bob!
LOL! But it does seems like the trade in values of the older models has gone up quite a bit lately!

Hi Al,

2021 was our 7th full season in our 2014 R27 Classic.

Our “vaccine” for two-foot-it is is our custom garage for our R27. A larger boat will not fit and there is no way to expand it bigger! A larger boat for us will likely mean a full time slip and an empty 40 foot garage. Perhaps we could find another toy to put in the garage…hmm…dang, now you got me thinking. Is our two-foot-itis vaccine becoming less effective?? 😱

Curt

Like Curt, we have a size limit. When we bought the 2017 25SC new in late 2016 we were offered a 27 for almost the same price but there was no way it would have fitted in our 30ft boathouse. I've had the occasional urge to go Big since but the boathouse remains good vaccination.

Switch to a sailboat and you'll pay the same price for another 4-8 feet 😀

But you'll still have two-foot-itis

I've had my C-30 for 2 months and already feeling the tingles of two foot-itis. Unfortunately, the 30 is as big as it gets. I've asked Andrew if they intend to make a bigger CW Boat in the future.

There have been persistent rumors of one around 34-36 pretty soon. I bet a dealer might have some info, if so. (Or maybe shoot the rumors down.)

That would be the perfect size... still fits in my slip at SYC! That said, I told my spouse I'd keep this boat for at least 5 years, which should give ample time for a new model to be released

We had our R25SC for 6 summers and finally gave in to two foot-itis when we ordered our R29S in the fall of 2020. I had indoor storage rental space all figured out and moved the tow vehicle into the garage that was modified height wise to hold the R25SC. Friend that owned the rental space decided to retire and sold the storage building, so I am still working on a cure for finding new indoor storage for the R29. Other than the indoor storage problem, we really like the larger boat.

We had our R-27 new since 2011. She was a wonderful vessel. We just traded her in for a 2022 R31S-LE. It is being shipped to the Northeast this week.

As someone who has worked in the public health sector for 30+ years, I can tell you that "vaccines" are not 100% effective.

Your experiences and uses will determine whether or not you need to buy up.

Two, four, six or eight foot-itis is a bad virus. As soon as you think you are done and have your boat exactly the way you want it. The Virus sets in when you are feeling good about your boat and its comforts and the boat next to you has just a little more room, more water capacity, fuel capacity, wider cockpit, a little more power, and more freeboard. We owned our C26 for 6 seasons and 650 hours of cruising. Last year we spent 3 months onboard took a 6 week break and then 3 more months. My wife retired Turing the second 3 month stay while cruising in the Florida Keys. We pulled the boat out and prepared for our trip back to Chicago when she told me "we need a bigger boat!!" On our way back from Florida we stopped at Perdido Key and spoke with Edgewater Yacht sales. They had no new C30 in stock but had a used one that we took out for a couple of hours to see if we liked it. Unfortunately this boat was under contract so our choice was to put money down to get a build slot or continue a search for a used C30. I wanted a C30 because of the trailering component. My wife did't feel it was big enough. I liked the performance of the C30, it was 5 kts faster than my C26 and cruised comfortably at the C26 WOT speed. I'm all about the mechanics and my wife was all about the Galley, Head, shower, and the walk around decks. She wanted wide walk around decks. The Choice's were limited for C30's new or used for the 2021 season. I like the Ranger Tug and Cutwater products but having owned many other marine manufactures products through out the years I wasn't going to be stuck on the brand I was stuck on what we wanted in our next boat. I will never rule out purchasing another Fluid Motion product. The pro's surely outweigh the cons. For now the eight foot-itis as lead us to a 34' Pilot that fit the check list. There have been many times since selling the C26 that I wish the virus never hit us! I do miss the benefits of trailering. I actually enjoyed the trailer aspect. We have only cruised a couple hundred miles onboard the Mainship and I'm just getting familiar with it. I need some more time to get over the Virus!!!! My wife is over it and loves the bigger boat.

To those that get the virus think hard about giving into it! To those that can stop, Congratulations and enjoy your boat and don't over think it! To those that can't, Congratulations on your new to you larger boat and try not to look back!
