Has anyone visited IR with their Ranger? Looking for any info about where you put in at and where you stayed around the Island. Thanks

Rich and Cheryll on Roam I believe have been their, hopefully they'll see this post but if not P.M. them.

Yes, Cheryll, Roam and I have circumnavigated Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior. We launched in Grand Portage Minnesota for a 25-mile crossing, but you could also start from Houghton or Copper Harbor Michigan for a longer crossing if Lake Superior is cooperating. You can email me at rich@odendahls.com if you have more questions.

Here is a link to our trip report;

Isle Royale NP is a real treat! Previous life and previous boat (Sport fisherman Slickcraft 236) launching in Grand Portage, MN.
With good weather you cannot go wrong and there are enough protective coves and harbors to allow waiting out the weather. Mc Cargoe Cove on the NE side followed by the Five Finger Bay and Duncan Bay nearby are must see. Maps pretty well show the interesting water\terrain areas. Docks and fire grids are common.

We'll be heading out of Houghton prob, our 15 yr old has spent the last 4 summers at MTU and thinks he has the "scoop". My biggest question is how busy will the docks be? This will be our first trip and should I hurry and load extra anchors or should we be able to find a spot to tie up? Also if we only have 4-5 days around IR what are the must stop locations
