We wandered the great hall and then the docks of the Seattle Boat Show admiring all of the beautiful vessels and accessories on display. We picked up an item here and an item there.

We went aboard a number of vessels strictly out of curiousity as well as a few that were just attractive to look at. Then on Sunday morning, we spotted one in paticular that caught our eye.

The Helmsman Pilothouse 38.

As of today, she shall be known as "Destiny". For we believe we have at last, found our "Destiny".

She has all of the features that we have been longing for. Additional space to move about as well as storage galore. While she did not have a second stateroom for the rare overnight guest, she does have an accomdation that will work. And, there is the elusive sofa that I have so badly wanted. And Not just one sofa, but three! One in the main saloon, one in the pilothouse, and a third on the fly bridge.

We will take delivery of her at 10:00 am on Thursday the 29th. She will temporarily be moored at the ShilsholeI Marina until a spot opens for her at Stimsons Marina.

While we had planned to take Karma to Campbell River for the summer, as with our floating "home", our travel plans have also changed. We will cruise Puget Sound as well as make a trip to Desolation Sound and another to the Gulf Islands.

While we will miss being a part of the Ranger Tug Family, we will still be a part of the Puget Sound boating community.

A special thanks goes to Bruce Moore for coming up with the name for our new "home". Over Breakfast one recent Sunday morning, we expressed our dillema of coming up with a new name. He simply came up with "You started with Solitude for your desire of the solitary anchorage. Karma was named through the sequence of events that lead you to her and now, you have reached your destination, she should be simply known as "Destiny".

We would also like to thank the entire staff at Fluid Motions. For if it were not for them, we would possibly never have discovered boating on Puget Sound. Through all of their support they have brought joy to a great number of others as well as ourselves. There is not another boat builder that can claim to have started a "cult" of "Tugnuts".

You can follow our adventures on our "Destiny" at: Helmsman-Ph38-Destiny.com

See you on the water,
David and Maureen

Congrats on the new boat - that should give you plenty of additional living space! Nice looking boat - I had mentioned to Joan while we were at the boat show that the flybridge on that model is very smart. Seems that it comes with (or you can option) all the goodies... except the Tugnuts group. I have no doubt that they'll still welcome you, though... heck, they allow us C-Dory folks to hang out.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

We'll miss you on the Karma but welcome you on the Destiny (great name).
Bob and Nita

An excellent boat like that deserves an exceptional dingy....
😀 May I suggest my R21?? 😀

David: Where are the photos of your "Destiny" ????????????? 😀 Oh, and BTW, CONGRATULATIONS... the boat sounds awesome. Don't be shy about attending the Tugnut gatherings. IMO You are part of the family regardless of what boat you have.

Boy, three sofas, I am so jealous..... Pictures, Pictures, Pictures.

Looks awesome, and all the way from China. I'd love to watch them unload a boatload of boats like that. Love the flybridge especially.

Jake

Slackwater, I asked Maureen if I could please have an R-21 as a dinghy........ her response was just "the look"....... I am pretty sure that means no........

We do have to say, this was a very tough decision. We have truly enjoyed the company of all of the other Tug Owners. A boat is a boat, but the camaraderie that comes with a Ranger Tug is incredible. We have spent our last weekend aboard Karma out at Blake Island in the company of Bruce and Vicki of Moondance as well as Bob and Kate of BobKat.

Along with all of you, the factory made this a tough decision. When I needed to cut a hole in a wall, it was a simple drive to Monroe, crawl through a boat under construction, look what was behind that wall, and I then knew what I could or could not do. Then on top of that, there are all of the incredible employees at Ranger Tugs (Fluid Motion) starting with Dave and going right down the list. They are always there no matter what time of day or night.

The fact that we finally admitted we were live a boards with a mailing address in Colorado though, out weighed all of the above. The additional space and comfort will be welcome.

We do plan to attend the Rendezvous in September. However, Jeff has asked that we turn the planning over to the committee. It is a Ranger Tug event and should therefore be planned and executed by Ranger Tug owners. Jeff did tell us though, he expected us to be there....

I will be posting the few pictures we have of Destiny on our web site today. Additional pictures will follow once we take delivery on Thursday.

See you on the water,
David and Maureen

I've just viewed your pictures and I must say you've done well with that PH38. It looks sweet and Maureen looks awfully comfortable in that black cushioned helm's seat. 😀 I look forward to more pictures, your adventures and modifications you make to Destiny. Please stick around. 🙂

Congratulations, David and Maureen.

Who could have seen that coming? I spend only a fraction of your 300+ nights a year on the boat and I would really like a sofa! Three seems a nice compromise. I went trolling their website and it looks like a wonderful vessel and I wish you lots of happy times on it.

If you keep this one clean, you won't have to buy a bigger one for a much longer time.

Hopefully we'll see you at rest on the water and get the tour.

Dave

I think I've heard something similar to this before... 😉 Looking forward to your return...

Steve,
The bags are packed. Handheld VHF and life jacket included....... When do we sail?

David and Maureen,

Congratulations on finding the large and roomy boat you have been searching for! I am happy for you and know that Destiny will provide the space and amenities for your commuting lifestyles.

Like other Tugnuts, I look forward to seeing you both wherever and whenever our paths cross!

How often have many of us heard Dave and/or Maureen say, "If it's meant to happen it will, if it isn't it won't. We're OK either way."

I didn't name the boat, I just edited the name down to one word which you can easily repeat three times on the VHF.

Cheers,

Bruce

Absolutely beautiful! Congratulations Maureen and David. We hope to see you out and about

Cheers

Tomorrow we close on Destiny. Karma is currently tied up at Waterline Boats right next to Destiny.... While it is a very exciting time, it is also a very sad time. We have been a part of the Ranger Tug Family for five years now. Tomorrow we move on.

Old adventures are the past, new adventures are the future. We hope to visit with many old friends this summer while also making additional new friends.

Thank you to the entire Ranger Tug Owners Family for allowing us to be part of such a great family this last five years.

David and Maureen

It is final! Karma now belongs to Waterline Boats and Destiny now belongs to us! All the funds have been wired and all the paperwork signed.

The only thing left to do now is to move all of our property from Karma to Destiny!

Think it will all fit? When we moved from a 39 foot motor home to a 42 footer, we had a hard time putting all or "stuff" in the new one.

All is stowed with room to spare! Our first night on board!
