Subject: It's getting close for having our new 2018 R-27 delivered

Yesterday I was informed our new 2018 R-27 is just completing production and is headed down to bottom paint today. The boat typically takes a week or so after it's dropped it off at the painters. Ranger Tugs will need a little time after it returns to do the final pre-delivery checklist and to make sure they install any add-on’s worked into our purchase agreement.

I had planned for the boats Name and Hailing info to be done this coming Friday at the Kent factory but as the boat will most likely be at the painter's shop I've rescheduled to do this at the painter's shop instead.

So it seems we will be taking delivery at our local marina sometime during the week starting Aug 14th.

I'm so glad we are approaching this point as my living room and man cave is simply overflowing with boating gear along with a fully inflated Sea Eagle 365ft FastTrack laying cross-wise in the living room. Some of the gear is old from previous boat and some brand new; I've been very busy on Defender and Amazon for past several weeks... and some gadgets are simply too much to ignore

I am excited to hear your reviews and see your pictures! Hoping the new R27 will be in my budget in the next 3-5 years

Update...

Woohoo! 😱

Delivery is scheduled for Aug 16th at my Edmonds Marina. 😀

Tim Bates will run through systems and dockside training on the 16th.
Kenny Marrs will come the 17th and do the operational training.

I'll be sure to capture stills and video of the experiences and post them in my Cloud data base repository for public viewing. 🙂 ...Hmmmm, I will need to dig out my camera gear stuff from under the ever mounting heap of boating stuff in my man cave. My grandson was over yesterday browsing through the gear and came across my new size 11 Gill Short Cruising boots and started stomping around the house in them, clown-like.

We're excited for you! Definitely want to see photos - lots of photos - and read your review(s) as you get along. Is your boat the outboard version of the 27?

Rob

Rob: yes it has Yamaha F300 outboard.

Ranger Tug and Yamaha...now that's a sweet package! Must be very exciting to move on up to a 27. Congrats!

Saw the R27/OB for the first time yesterday on their web.
Nice lines and similar to the 29, my only crit is that they seemed to not do their good design work on the control area.
Not up to the measure of the other models.

"control area" ????? Do your refer to the helm console ? If so, I'm of the opinion it's well designed and thought out. What issue do you see ? Is it the layout design or a functionality issue for you ?

When do you take delivery? I'm anxious to hear the reports!

Is the hull shape different than in the semi-displacement 27? What speeds do you get with the 300hp outboard? That must be a huge engine.

Delivery will next Wed Aug 16th so long as there are no delays.... 🙂

The hull is full planing with deep V (22º I believe at bow). The hull shape is very different from the R-27 (Classic) semi-displacement. With light load onboard the new 2018 R-27/OB with the F300 Yamaha engine will top out at around 41 mph.... and yes, the engine is huge to look at. However, considering it's a V6 4.2 liter engine its size is quite small. 🙂 It's also very quiet and fuel efficient with low emissions. It will require non-ethanol gasoline for best performance and my marina sells nothing else. 😀

I do intend to post back after my R-27's maiden voyage completes from Aug 18 to Aug 21st to provide 'first thoughts' etc.
