Went to flush the Jabsco toilet on our R27 this morning and all I get is a humming spinning noise from the toilet bowl. Something is not engaging. Has anyone had this same problem and if so what was the remedy? The good news, if one can call it that, is there was no dark matter in the bowl at the time. Need help in Campbell River, BC.

Additional info.....forgot to mention that the toilet bowl does operate for filling it with water, the spinning/humming non working part occurs when trying to flush.

Sounds to me as if the maceratorblades are loose or broken. Had that once on a similar unit. You havta take it apart to the bones to get to the blades. After that you never get them back as they used to be 🙂

Important to align orings and parts properly and apply equal torque on all screws or they start leaking. Ask me how I know

I took the bowl off and unscrewed the top of the 12V motor and lifted it off, the gear was loose and just fell off. It appears that a complete pump assembly needs to be ordered, which includes basically all of the mechanical/electrical items inside the bowl. Nothing available up here in Campbell River so I'll try Fisheries or Richard at RT in the morning. If anyone has any other suggestions before then please let me know.

You probably need the service kit. Should be available fromwestmarine or any decently stocked supply store for that product. Good to keep spares for that. Of course a bit late to suggest that🙂. In my case the plastic shell around the blades broke and made a horrible noise. That shell was responsible to create the suction by directing water and the broken piece was swirling around in it.

I personally would replace all the moving and plastic parts in that section. A breakage in that area is not worth the cleanup needed at a time when it is needed most, if you know what I mean. The motor is pretty sturdy and can be reused, unless burned out.

Any chance you could get a local shop to reattach the gear to the motor ? Might get you up and going again for now .

Hi,
Ocean Pacific Marine in Campbell River is a well-stocked marine supply and repair facility and should be able to help you out. They are next door to Discovery Harbour Marina. Port Boathouse in Port Alberni (1-877-283-2628) is the western Canadian Ranger Tug rep. Give them a call if Ocean Pacific cannot help.

Cheers,

Thanks every for for your suggestions. The gear that broke was plastic so unable to put back on. I did try Ocean Marine but they did not have the part but did have a complete toilet for $1,000.00! I was finally able to find one service kit by making contact with Xylem, the parent company of Jabsco. They found one kit in stock at one of there suppliers in Clearwater Florida, (saved me calling all over the country, I had already tried Fisheries, West Marine and Defender) I ordered it right away to be UPS'd to Heriot Bay Inn and Marina in Desolation Sound. I hope to have the head back in working order by this time next week. As an aside Andrew at RT offered to take the part needed out of a traded in R27 to send me and I thought that was very nice and a small representation of the kind of over the top service Ranger Tugs provides. In the end, no pun intended, it was cleaner all the way around to buy the new kit....but I thank you for the offer Andrew.

Update. I've installed the new jabsco pump assembly and all is in great working order. The new assembly's 12V motor has metal gears instead of plastic so I'm guessing this will hold up better. As a side note the bowls old macerator chambers and exit pipes were 75% clogged in a hardened state which may be why a toilet bowl does not flush properly, maybe even contributed to the gear failure. The new unit flushed like a charm.

Thanks again for everyones input.

That sounds like it may hurt.
