Hi Guys,

first time with a boat with a marine toilet and couldn't seem to get it to work. I set the flush control lever to open and began pumping but no water entered the bowl. I could feel back pressure while pumping and think I might have missed opening a vent valve or something. Do I need to open the seacock under the sink (R23) to allow the system to vent?

Jim,

You need to open the raw water seacock in the big center lazerette (storage hold).

If you don’t want to use raw water to flush the toilet turn the water pump on and use the hose in the cabin to fill the toilet bowl. Then make sure the toilet valve is turned to flush when you pump the handle.

Oh, yea that makes sense. Thanks again guys. This site is very helpful.

We’ve always done that since using seawater is a real contributor to odour issues.
