Thought I'd mention this in case some of you haven't considered it:
I am leaving on Thursday for 2-3 weeks of boating off Vancouver Island. Part of the trip involves driving from Nanaimo to the west side of the island and Ucluelet. I'm told the road to Ucluelet from Port Alberni is narrow, winding and can be treacherous. The last thing I would want is for something to happen to the truck/trailer en route, and to be broken down in some remote part of the island.
So I thought it best to have Les Schwab do a visual inspection of my truck and boat trailer to ensure everything was in good working order for the trip. Glad I did because they discovered that I need new brake pads and calipers on my 3/4-ton diesel truck. They said it could have been dangerous tapping on the brakes for an extended period of time -- going downhill into Port Alberni or along the road to Ucluelet, for example.
So for all you who will be doing some extended driving this summer, consider having an auto shop do a visual inspection to ensure all is copacetic before you hit the road.
