Last week my wife and I ordered a Ranger Tug 25SC from through Reed Yacht Sales in Michigan. Home base is Indianapolis, IN (no decent water within 175 miles so we needed it to be trailerable and will mostly cruise Lake Michigan and Lake Huron but some KY and TN reservoirs also. I have visited the Tugnuts site many time each week since August when we began the process of deciding if we were ready to make this move to a slower moving craft. We have had a Sea Ray in the garage for the past 32 years but with the big 60 approaching it was time to get another boat with sidedecks which Sea Ray no longer does in the trailerable sizes. Had to raise the roof and door frame on the garage 2 feet to move from the Ray to the Tug (over budget and behind schedule). I can not thank all of you that have contributed to these pages over the last five months enough for your insights and comments about the quality of the Ranger Tug, the service issues, and the ability to handle the seas. I must admit over the last decades we have cruised the great lakes at trawler speed more often than water skiing them, so part of the decision was not too difficult. (I am so not looking forward to changing thruster shear pins and impellers having read all your stories of those joys.) We have a really clean Sea Ray 240 freshwater 2010 240 Sundancer for sale if you know anyone that still needs to water ski while they cruise. I have got stop buying new boats now or I will never be able to retire.

Welcome to the Ranger Tug family of boat owners S. Todd, you've found a great home of boating folks here on Tugnuts. How about trailering your new 25 up to the North Channel this summer? We had a Ranger Tug/Cutwater Rendezvous last summer and plan to do this again this coming summer, it's a great way to meet your fellow owners. Reed Yacht Sales was one of the sponsors so either watch this forum or ask Paul and or Brent Reed for details as they unfold. Congratulations on your new purchase.

Congratulations! We have had our R25SC for 18 months - mostly on the Columbia River - and have loved every minute of it.

Welcome aboard! We're located about 2 or 2 1/2 hours northeast of you in Celina, Ohio on Grand Lake St Marys. We keep our R25 in the water here at our house and occasionally trailer it to other places like Lake Erie or the Ohio river.

Grand Lake St Marys is a great place to boat. It's a 13,500 acre unlimited horsepower lake with several restaurants, marinas offering slips with shore power and water, a state maintained self service pump-out station, a state park campground, nice city and state parks, and several events on the lake each season including hydroplane races, fireworks, and the Celina Lakefest.

Like all Midwestern lakes and the western basin of Lake Erie, we had a major algae bloom in 2010 but the community and state have worked to deal with the algae problem and for the past few years the lake has seen steady growth in boaters and fishing.

If you'd like to check out the lake as an additional boating venue that's a little closer to your home, email me or send me a PM through Tugnuts.

You're really going to enjoy your Ranger Tug. I know for us, it's our favorite of all the boats we've had.

Welcome to the family. We also just made a deal on a R-25sc and are looking forward to delivery.

Welcome!
Nice to see boats in the Midwest. We also are new (to us) owners of a R25. After a shake down on the Mississippi, we plan to spent time in the Apostle Islands (Lake Superior) and Isle Royal this summer. The people on this forum (and the factory) are fantastic. You will be happy with your purchase.
