Just a wannabe here. Sold the SeaDoo so I am building the nest egg. Thought sure I would get a 21EC, but now I am considering a 25. Just waiting for the right time.

Hi,

I'm Gene. My wife is also named "Peggy"; we own a dark blue 2009 R-21 EC. Bought it at the Atlanta Boat Show in Jan. 2009. We live about 50 miles NNE from Atlanta on Lake Lanier. Presently have almost 80 hours on the vessel, 98% of them since mid-May when we put it in the water full-time.

Spent some time in the Great State of Texas at Amarillo in the early 60s.

I'm a long time sailor, on and off more than 50 years, owned sailboats since 1975. Owned a couple of power boats, including an Albin 27 AC, "AC" stands for aft cabin. It had two cabins, enclosed head and shower, etc. The R-21 EC replaced the Albin. 😉

Peggy keeps reading trawler ads to me even though she's not really a boater. She spent a half hour or more yesterday evening reading from the latest "PassageMaker". Hasn't mentioned the Ranger 29 yet.

Gene,
You got to bring it up. Start a hot button conversation, Paint some fabulous pictures for her mind of the two of you setting on deck watching the sunset. All the fun places you can cruise. Now pop a closing question, like what color do you think our new 29 Ranger should be? If she blows up , back off a little and say " I mean If we bought a new Ranger" Then, brick by brick built a whole new foundation. Bring on the pictures. Crack open a bottle of good wine. ECT,ECT,

You must have done all that in the past. You are a sailor already. All us sailors are good salesmen are we not? 😉

captd,

Just returned from hooking up a battery charger to my sailboat.

Had the Ranger R-21 out for a couple of hours yesterday. Saw a hot air ballon, a heron, two deer, some early fall leaf color and a couple of pugs as I drove home (saw a couple of boats on the lake, too). Tried to tell her what she missed.

After almost 49 years she's on to all of my approaches. 🙁 I'm racking my brain for new ones. She even claims the R-29 doesn't have a proper rear stateroom, even after I offered to sleep there. What's a guy to do? :?

Gene

Get her on board of one.( I have about the same problem you do.) The Ranger will do the rest

. I could tell as soon as she stepped aboard the 25 I was going to be a Ranger Tug owner. Now the problem is.....I let her step aboard the 29, now she wants that one and I still have to cruise both coasts for awhile. Your right " what is a guy to do"?

captd :? .

Hi ! And I think I can help a couple of you guys .............
Marc

Marc,
Hi guy. Tell me about that 29 you have in stock. Us inquiring minds will want to know. I heard it was a pretty clarette red.

Wow! You guys must have married the wrong women! It was my wife that informed me we were buying the 25 and then the 29! There was no case for me to build, no wall to construct, nothing. She went on board the 25 at the Seattle boat show three years ago and said this is it. No more discussion.......

Then it was the 29 at the Rendezvous! She said I want this one! What is a man to do? He must keep his beautiful wife dressed in the finest of marine attire that he can (I mean a boat not clothes.....).

Darrell, you better convince Miss Dee in a hurry, Jeff has hull number 12 sitting there waiting on you! You can berth her at Port Orchard right next to Karma!

Peggy was the driving force for the Albin 27 AC. I was happy sailing (still am). She wanted a "bigger boat", so I sold the Albin. While touring the East Coast and Florida, looking for a "bigger boat", I discovered Ranger Tugs in Rock Hall, MD. "Too small " was her immediate response to the R-25 (the R-29 was just about ready for introduction at that point); we couldn't even see the R-21 EC, too many folks around it.

Got to Tarpon Springs, FL, looked at a nice Marine Trader 38. At that point she decided she didn't want a boat, wanted B&Bs, condos, hotels, motels, etc., but no boat travel. :? I bought a R-21 EC for me. At the time I bought the tug she went on the R-29, didn't care for it. I believe she thinks it's too small.

I'm confused, but women do that to keep us in line. I think. 😉

Gene

C'mon guys, haven't you figured it out by now?

If you really want the 29, point to the mid cabin berth and tell her 'we even have a place to store all of your shoes' :?

If this doesn't work, I better head back to the drawing board

Hi everyone,
I am brand new here. Signed a contract today for a new leftover R 29. Sold my 37 ft sailboat earlier this week, that was the only hold up. I have been on the water all my life. My parents bought me my first boat, a used wooded row boat when I was 9. That was back in 1959 The last 4 days were the first time I have been boatless in I can't remember how long.
My wife Julia and I live in NY state, about 100 miles north of NYC, about 3 mile from the Hudson River. The last 20 years or so, we have kept our boats in Mystic CT. A really nice area, about 14 miles to Montauk, 13 miles to Block isd, then theres Newport RI, Long Island Sound etc. Look forward to becoming an active member of the community here.

Jeff Jones here. I live on the Delaware Bay and have a 21 tug used mostly for fishing, great rough water boat.

Hi There My name is patrick Beattie owner of r25 named "thats it" live on Salt Spring island bc .

Greetings Patrick, Capt. Chris, and Tugnutters far and near. Welcome to the world of Quality Cruising.

Good evening Patrick! Welcome to Tugnuts! Have you seen the blogs on the PNW Rendezvous? If not, we will be having the second annual rendezvous on September 10th through the 12th in Bremerton Washington. If you are interested in attending, please let me know and I will add you to the list.

Greetings from Pennsylvania. We own Tugger Toy, a 2006 R-21 Classic. So far we have been boating in the Elk, Bohemia and Sassafras Rivers. Can't say enough about our Tug - other than LOVE HER!

I had to talk my HUSBAND into buying our Tug  He has no regrets now!!

Moria, Eric and the tuggin Jack Russel Terriers

WOW Moria !!!
Your husband must be the luckiest man on the planet !!!

Well, went down to Rock Hall MD this past Saturday and did Sea Trails on the R 29 we are buying.
The R 29 was better on the water than I could have expected.
My wife and I are going to name Her, Folie A' Deux ... translated form French it is " A Madness Shared by Two".

This will be our 4th Folie .
🙂
