We all like to make efficient use of space on our vessels. I for one, really like to minimize the number of books, manuals, travel guides and other printed materials I bring onboard. However, I still like to have access to these materials, especially manuals for all the on-board equipment, engines, chart plotter, etc. The compromise that I have found, is to visit manufacturers websites and download "pdf files" of use guides, installation manuals, trouble shooting guides and other items which I might need while out cruising, and then load them on my Kindle, iPad, or 10" Android Tablet. The larger the tablet screen the better. Additionally, as a bonus, most Android tablets come with built in GPS which makes them a great platform for running Navionics software.

So how do you move pdf files to your Kindle on the device on which you have Kindle software installed as an application? Amazon has made this straight forward and easy. Visit the web page shown in the link below for complete instructions. Of course, if you prefer the real thing, don't hesitate to take a hard copy.

I have everything on an old iPad, synchronized through Google drive.
