I have a 2007 21 and it came with a Kenyon single burner butane stove model B23006. This past week I took a week long trip on the St Johns river. When I tried to use the stove it would not get hot enough to boil water. Changed the butane can and it didn't help. Looked on the Kenyon site and it appears the stove was discontinued years ago. Has anyone fixed a similar problem? Has anyone replaced the stove with something else? I really like this stove and have been impressed with both the heat output and the fact the cans of fuel seem to last a long time.

Thanks for any help.

We cook on a butane stove all the time on our 21ec. We cook on the engine cover. We have a Coleman and a Marten version and both boil water fast. Each stove cost around 25 dollars in Canada. We got the second one as a back up. A can on fuel lasts about 4 days.

I like the fact that the stove is built in so I boil water and drive at the same time. For more serious cooking I carry a two burner Coleman propane stove that I sit on the engine cover.

My built in stove is an alcohol stove I never used. I removed it so it will not get damaged. I travel with my wife so need the seat over the stove.

I do not know if an alcool stove replacement would be an option for you, it would most likely fit the existing hole if you were to remove the butane stove already in place. I use my alcool stove and must say that it works very well, the downside of using it is that the pots and pans will get all dirty underneath because of the burning flame. we always make sure that the seat is properly align before we sit down on it to prevent breaking the glass top. one thing is for sure, a portable stove would be much cheaper to buy. for resale purpose, having a working stove in the cockpit is a + for sure.

Good points, breakage was the reason I removed mine, put I back in if I sell. We put a plastic table cloth on the engine cover and with a few wood cutting boards turn it into a full kitchen, a plastic tub is used for washing up.

We had a C-Dory with a Kenyon Kiss stove. It failed two times once after they had just rebuilt it for free. I would buy a newer style butane stove in a closable case like the caters use. After our experience on our boat, I don't think I would ever use another Kenyon butane stove. There is a lot of info on the failures of these stoves and there is a reason they are no longer made. Ours would leak gas upon installing the gas canister. It was sent back and the factory. They recommended putting a drop of oil on the tip of the canister to lube the o rings and to always remove the gas canister from the stove when not in use. All this to no avail. You might want to check out the newer Infra Red butane models one is the M.V. Trading Co. Which I think is available from Wal-Mart for $29.95.

I agree with not having butane in the cabin. I had a butane fire in my C dory cabin due to leaking fuel. Fortunately an extinguisher was close, the the quantity of flame was a real wake up call. Kenyon did repair and upgrade my stove and it went with the boat when I sold it. I now only cook outside under the canopy on my 21. The butane is okay, but I figure outside with the portable butane stove, I can push it overboard pretty quick if it should have a similar failure to the one that my Kenyon Kiss suffered on the Dory. However, the Kiss worked for 7 seasons. I did the one drop of oil, but no matter, after a while, the seals do go bad. So, buying a new portable version for the 30 bucks every season isn't a bad way to deal with cooking on a 21.

I got one of these from the "Sail" store at Christmas. It is made by Martin. Havn't tried it on the boat yet but it seems to work good and I think more resistant to wind blow outs. The Kiss that came with my boat - I kissed goodbye! 😀
