I have a 2011 R29. Today I asked King canvas how much it would cost to buy the sides to my factory cockpit canvas. The answer....$2200.00 plus tax and delivery....and I install the snaps.

That seems pretty steep for what I imagine are three pieces of canvas that I zip into the existing zippers. (They're nicely finished I'm sure!) can anyone who has ordered the side pieces provide a little insight?

This won't be much help but I can say that my limited experience with custom Bimini top and sides is that they certainly do not come cheap - lots of labour to custom size and fit everything I am sure. As for the factory stuff - because it is "mass" produced one would expect a savings but you are seeing that in relation to my custom sides. I don't know if the discount is large enough but it is there.

Remember, the factory charges just south of $3,500 for these enclosures... It seems King Marine is quite a savings. Dave and his team have done the majority of our canvas needs for all of our various boats. The quality and craftsmanship of their work is great.

I am not familiar with the exact layout of the King Marine sides and back for the R-29, but on our CD-25, it was two pieces on each side and three pieces across the back. Ours had eisenglass (assuming you don't want solid Sunbrella back there) in each piece. Certainly, a lot of hand work. As I recall, it was an additional $500 just for screens in three of the pieces, so we could roll up the eisenglass to allow for airflow.

Once you have that "spare room," you will wonder how you ever did without it.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

I didn't like the color the thickness of the factory canvas. I had the frame tighten up and new blue canvas with sides that zip out and can be either screens or isinglass, I love it. It cost me $4500. If you don't mind loose fitting tan sunbrella $2200 is a good price.
