If you've ever boated in the Puget Sound, chances are you've met or heard of Ray Carpenter.
Ray was the revered and much loved harbormaster for the Port of Kingston. Sadly, I report he has passed away.
Last August, Ray hosted 52 Ranger Tugs and Cutwaters. We took up the entire guest dock and we even had a few boats tucked away in permanent moorage. Ray met each boat as they arrived and made sure they had some smoked salmon dip and a tube of Ritz. He came in on his day off to feed ALL 100+ of us crab and salmon. What a guy! I am proud to say he was a great friend. He was Ranger Tugs' biggest fan. We shall miss him....

We are so sorry to hear of Ray’s passing. He made our stay at Kingston always the most enjoyable. No matter how full the marina he always went out of his way to find a space for us. He knocked it out of the park last summer with the Ranger Tugs weekend! The boating community in Puget Sound has lost a treasure. Gonna miss that guy for sure.

Such sad news. Ray’s energy was endless. In our memories, his golf cart kicked up a cloud of dust as he raced over hill and dale at the Kingston rendezvous-vous and back again and again to create a warm welcome for Tug nuts. Your description is spot-on: Ray was definitely a treasure. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts.
