We own a Cutwater 30, sans owner's manual. We can see the KVH Tracvision M1 Antenna on the mast. We see the TVs inside the cabin, but beyond that we're clueless. Where should we look to find the 'interface box' and/or the Satellite box? Anybody want to help a couple of technophobes with a simple problem? Thanks!

Let's see what answers you get on this one. I heard that there is only a regular digital antenna under that dome. If so, I don't know why they do that installation. Maybe to impress your neighbors? If it is just a regular antenna you should be hooked up and ready to go. You need to do a channel search from the setup menu section before you can get reception. Once you do that you should be golden. Hopefully you know Spanish because, at least here on the East coast, there are a fair amount of those stations. 😀

There is just a tv antenna inside. It is the same dome though that you COULD put a sat tv antenna inside tho.

OK, I think I understand. It's sort of like one of those cod-pieces actors wear in a Shakespeare play. Thanks. 😳

The nice part of that is you have the mounting all done so if you decide to add the unit all the work is done just need the part. Without that you need to have the mast welded to support the unit and run the coax. Personally think it is really thinking ahead.

Does anyone have any experience in connecting a KVH satallite dish to the mast. My configuration is radar dome then GPS antenna on top of that. I'd like to move the GPS antenna and use that space for the dome. Does anyone make a platform that attaches to the mast in order to move the GPS antenna on top of the TV dome.

Hello Jeff,

I'd try moving the GPS puck antenna inside the pilot house...maybe in the cubby behind the Garmin mfd. Our fiberglass boats are relatively transparent to GPS signals thus there is no reason to mount the external antenna on the mast...or even outside on the roof top. It's probably an NMEA 2000 cable which puts the GPS antenna on the N2K network so it would be simple to lay it inside somewhere on a trial basis to convince yourself that it will work. The mast "real estate" is valuable so eliminating the GPS makes sense.

We installed an M3 on our boat about two years ago with factory help. You might call them and see if a new mast might be required. We have Directv and love it. I told my wife that with football season on I would have to be home every Sunday and that did it. Its not cheap but worth it.
