Hi guys!

Just wanted to get some info from current owners on how long it took to get your tug from order to delivery? We ordered a 2021 R27 the first week of January this year. I was told delivery would be end of June or July. Is this about average in terms of production time? Just wanted to see how long it took for everyone else? It’s been torture waiting for the boat, but we are so incredibly excited!

Thanks!

Our experience with building two tugs was 2-3 months lead time. Every year is different, and the time of year you order can impact the lead time. The past two years might be exceptional for yacht sales, so you are experiencing longer order backlogs.

For what it's worth, our R-25 OB took about four months. I'd agree that there is a huge demand for these boats right now so that's likely the cause for longer lead times.

We originally ordered our boat end of January 2020. We had an estimated delivery date of beginning of May 2020. Covid then hit and delayed us about 6 weeks. Boat was delivered middle of June 2020.

Getting a new boat is very exciting! But as they say, a watched pot never boils! (Easy for me to say!)

If you were quoted June or July, I can tell from experience any of their new boats sold after June change from current model year to next... if you take possession of your new R27-OB in July, you will be getting a 2022 boat.

May not mean much to you now, but it may in 4-5 years when you go to sell it or trade it in on a new R29S. Btw, new R29S models next availability isn't 'til October... it's painful!

You will love your new R27-OB!!!

Tell me about it Doghouse 2 (Bob)

We ordered our R31 last week of January. Good thing we still get to use our 27 for 2 more weeks then trade it in. We will switch to our fishing boat till our new boat is ready just in time for the 4th of July! Just in time to watch the fireworks show at Oak Harbor from the command Bridge.

This is precisely what happened to us. Covid pushing our date past the June 1 delivery, so our 2020 turned into a 2021 model. We love our 2021 R27-OB.

The wait was the longest part. It was a looonnngggg 5 months... 😀 But so worth the wait.

Great choice! You are going to love it.
Did you get the lithium battery upgrade? It is the best with A/C underway and on the hook!

Timing sounds right. It took 3.5 months for us to take ownership.

Cheers
Gary

Yes with boat sales up over 700% it takes time. But it is well worth the wait. We love our R25OB and have been cruising throughout the Puget Sound and so ready for Canada to open up.

Just to echo what’s been said, the timing sounds consistent with our experience. We ordered a new R27OB in November, and are taking delivery next week. Sooooo excited and the past 6 months have given us more than enough time to be adequately prepared.

We placed our deposit on a 27’ mid March, with an expected delivery in Canada mid September. The wait is killing us, so we upgraded our tow vehicle in the meantime.

I am in the process I delivery. We ordered ours in November. I hear whispering from workers they are about to let everyone know their boats are being pushed out 6 weeks. Just a rumor but be ready. Reason for this is all parts are hard to get right now with the boat boom. We were suppose to get our trailer 3 weeks ago for example.

Good luck!
