Hey Gang, have read about a lot of detective work that has gone into finding and stopping leaks. But not about, well, have read about leaky hatches, and that could very well be part of my problem. What I have right now is water trapped above the pleather liner, port side, back corner above the range on my C28, 2019. Feels like a couple gallons anyway. Month or so ago I noticed some darkness/staining on the paneling in this area. Didn’t notice it of course when I purchased the boat last spring. Anyhoo, was hoping to fine some info about disassembling this area. Any thoughts or links to previous fixes appreciated. Thx, ron.

Yes, we have and still are experiencing the same issue. When we bought the boat the headliner was really weathered and needed to be replaced. The owner paid for the replacement and we sealed the holes where the winch for the dinghy was installed and thought we had it taken care of. But, unfortunately, the issue is repeating itself. After partially removing the liner I could see some daylight forward where the radar cables are located. I used generous amount of Gorilla tape on the outside of the mast area to seal off any intrusion. That still has not worked.

There is a previous post on this topic and one suggestion was to replace the teak and holly with Starboard product. Another option is to drill some drain holes to let the water drip out and not settle up there. When I remove the screws on that port side at the low point about 1/8 cup of water drips out. Nothing in the range of a gallon.

So, I still don't have solution to the issue. I saw another C28 on the hard on Lopez Island about a year and ago and I could see the same problem.

We had some water intrusion on our R27C only during very heavy rainfall. After a lot of troubleshooting I found the water was coming in on the wires from the radar and searchlight. The wires run through a rubber gasket but the seal was not sufficient. I added a generous amount of 4200 sealant and that stopped the leak. I also added sealant to all other wire penetrations.

Older C26, same experience as RedRaven. Took a Holmes-on-Homes approach: strip everything, clean it up, install cable clams. 100% resolved.
