There is a leak in my cabin in my R21 2005. So I have two questions. One where is it leaking and two the water collects in the bottom hold and I have to bale it out of there. Can I drill a whole in the bottom of the hold so the water goes into the bildge? What would you do?

Hi Diane-

I discovered an elusive leak in the cabin of my 2002 while on my recent trip. I was fortunate enough to be out in a severe storm which made chasing it down much easier. Mine was coming from one of the bolts in the hatch hinges. They need to be re-bedded which I'll do properly now that I'm home. I'm also interested in an answer to your second question. For the time being I use one of these http://www.amazon.com/ZOOKA-AZ-24-Q...8&qid=1403136089&sr=1-4&keywords=water+cannon as a manual bilge pump when required.

Hi Ard,

Thank you for your reply. I guess I will just have to go out and have someone turn the hose on and see where it is coming from. There is no leak on the bunk its off to the side somewhere.

I do have one of those - we call them super soaker. I will use this. Great Idea!

How long have you had your boat? I would love to chat over the phone with you one night! I just got mine 3 weeks ago.

Have a great day and again thank you.

Sincerely,

Diane

My leak in the 2008 21ec came in through/around the anchor chain fitting...removing the screws and recaulking between the fitting and the deck (including the screw holes) solved the problem...the water that got in ran across the ceiling (over the bunk) and then dropped down whereever depending on which way the boat was listing. The bunk may or may not get wet.

I'm not catching your drift...I don't know what you mean by "anchor chain fitting."

Are you referring to the BOW ROLLER

or the CLEAT?

Or....?

Thanks,

Sorry for the miscommunication....the anchor chain comes through the foredeck..it is the deck fitting that sits on the foredeck that leaks.

Hello Curt,

OK, I think you mean the anchor chain pipe, like this?

I forgot about that fixture up there on the bow. As a fellow 21EC owner, thanks for the clarification.

I was just looking/cleaning under the bunk on my boat and I noticed there are no weep holes for that storage area. If you decide to drill any drain/weep holes, do NOT drill straight down because you will be drilling through the hull. Your best bet would be to drill a 3/8" hole through the bulkhead toward the toilet, one on each side.
