We have been getting a lot of rain lately and the starboard aft storage compartment on our R-29 stays wet. We found that the cup holder drain tube was not installed and took care of that but we are still getting flooded. We thought it might be the vent opening but we don't have that problem on the port side. Any suggestions as to where to look next would be appreciated. It appears to be somewhere aft of the middle of the compartment as the top of the aft plastic container we have in there is the only one that is trapping water. It has been so bad that we are going to have to replace the plywood deck which means taking the generator out along with a bunch of other stuff.

I also have an R29. A common problem is for the strainer for the drain located in the drip edge to the compartment getting clogged which allows rain water to overflow in the storage area. Some folks have popped out the strainer to prevent it from collecting small debris which clogs the grill but would pass through the drain line. I have a long haired dog and mine gets clogged with dog hair and needs to be cleaned regularly.

If it is wet all the time you may have two problems. Rain entering when it rains hard and the drain can't take it all, which results in the water you see on top of the plastic storage container and another problem. Are you sure you do not have a hose leaking fresh water from your tank which drips and runs aft to the storage area. I had a hose come loose under the sink and the water drained aft into the storage area then ran into the sump.

A slow drip would be all that is required to keep the plywood wet causing it to deteriorate. I would check for a leak in the water system.
