I arrived at the boat today and noticed water on my forward stateroom floor. Horror set in and I assumed the worst such as the bow thruster tunnel leaking or something. Turns out the anchor locker had 18+” of water in it due to a clogged drain, and it somehow leaked down, soaking the bed / bedding and dripping onto the floor and into the storage under the bed. My question is, where is the possible ingress point?? I can’t see where it could possibly get into the cabin. The hose is still sealed properly and drained once I moved the gunk out. Very confused and annoyed…

Dave, I stumbled upon a port on my C30. It’s a circular one similar to the ones in the cockpit below each of the downrigger pads. My port was behind the fabric covered bolster at the head of the master berth. To my surprise, that bolster lifts up and comes off and the access port is right behind it. I needed access below my chain locker to troubleshoot incoming water and I found that my source was the absence of a hose connecting the locker drain port to the port on the port side of the hull. So all the water coming into the locker from rain, wash downs, and anchor use was simply flooding down under the bed and into the hull around the shower sump pump.

Hi Rob,

Thank you for sharing. That was one of the first things I checked, and the drain hose for the anchor locker is still firmly attached and sealed, with multiple hose clamps. I can’t figure out where the other ingress point could be, given that.

Your anchor box is a “water tight 5-sided box”. The topside of box (6th side) is probably not water tight sealed to deck even though it looks like it may be. Box fills with water, boat planes at angle, water finds tiny hole, then Dave has a bad day. Is that a possibility??????

I think the screw holes that hold the side foot plates in for the bow seats aren’t properly sealed, if I were to guess. So similar to what you’re saying. I haven’t used the boat in two weeks so it’s just been sitting, and was washed. The water was soapy, so that answers where the water source was.

Hi All - I had a plugged anchor locker drain. We snaked it out and the water swirled down. But it did not exit on the bow port side vent (R29-S). How do I access that hose to see if it is kinked, broken, not attached etc?
