HI, has anyone ran into problems with leaks near the ceiling in hard rain and boat washdowns? We have an R27 and have some minor water damage to the wood paneling and "carpet" stain up high above our windows. It appears that is might be coming from under the cap that the handrail is attached to about midship in the galley. When I spray water on the top of the boat it acutally drips down the wall in one place.
any advice is appreciated.

Jeff, leaks in the sport rack mounts and hand rail mounts have been legion. I went through it and still have a fourth hand rail that I now need to remove and reseal.
Remove any overhead wood trim or curtain tracks to expose the head liner. Feel for the end of the stud on each end of the handrail protruding down into that area and either peel the liner loose or use a utility knife to cut a slit (I did) A 3/8" drive socket set is handy for getting a socket onto the nut and removing it. Then a nylon or brass hammer to drive the stud (and rail) upwards so it can be pulled out. The rest of the repair will be self evident. On my worst one there was only a 180 degrees of sealant around the hole  Apparently the worker expected rain to only intrude from one side.

Have fun  you ain't the only one.

I have an R27 and having difficulty finding a leak in the head. My leak in the lower aft corner just above the caulking at the sink. I have checked the sink and fixtures and nothing wet there. I never thought of a leaking hand rail.

Just keep in mind, where you see the water coming in can be a long way from where it originates. I would first get your hose directed at the point where you think may be the problem and try to confirm the intrusion point before you start to pull things apart. It may take time and patience, but it will result in the proper area being addressed in the long run

Let us know how things work out.

I had a leak coming in above the shifter handle. Traced it back to the running light wire not being sealed, placed a small ss clam shell and pumped in silicon. Fingers crossed as we are starting to get a lot of heavy rain here in Florida.

Anyone had similar problem with handrails on R-29s? Our hanrail angles down through the red “cap”. Seems the angle makes removal and rebedding more difficult. Suggestions please?

We have a C28 and had a leak following wash downs through a center light fixture. Put silicone sealant where the horn wires pierce the top and cured the problem. Awkward to get to because of the solar panel.
