While fishing in Lake Erie, in my new R 29, in 45 foot of water, upon retrieval of the anchor, the nylon rode came up fine but when it got to the chain it stopped. Seemed to be spinning. Windlass motor was working. No matter what we did we could not make the windlass pull in the anchor chain. Would appreciate any thoughts on what might be the cause and solution. Thanks, Gary on Docky's Dream

Believe there is probably a clutch on the top (or side) depending on which windlass you have. Check your manual. You should have been given a wrench for it but a socket wrench, 1/2" I think, will work in case you didn't get one.

Sounds like that cluch isn't tight.

Take a look in your lewmar manual package there is a wrench to tighten the clutch. Also, you need to open the locker door and flatten out your rode and chain during retrieval operation. If it builds up too much it jams under the lewmar and prevents further retrieval.

Respondants: Thanks. Once I found the windlass wrench and tightened things up-all was well. Gary on Docky's Dream
