My bow thruster sounds normal turning the boat to port, however, it's weak going to starboard. Not long ago, I had to change a shear pin and replace a blown fuse. Since the power seems fine in one direction, I don't expect it's a battery issue. I also just had a diver check that the tube was clear and props spun OK. The zincs are also in good shape.

The only other thing I can think of is the gear box, but, not sure what can be done while in the water. (I just had bottom paint done and don't plan to haul out for quite a while).

Anyone ever see this issue?

perhaps prop blades were damaged when the shear pin broke and its now more efficient in one direction?

hi there,

Not sure, but there may be an internal issue with the motor. It may be with the solenoid circuit or internally in the motor section. Either way it would require more diagnosis from a competent shop. Good thing is that these are very simple motors, very similar to a car starter motor. So if yours is out of warranty, I would suggest taking it to a local shop that can do starter motors. Hope this helps get things started.

Cheers,

Ralf
