I would greatly appreciate some advice how to troubleshoot why my Thruster Remote is working only for bow and not stern thruster. Lewmar tech support has been clueless.
To confirm:
  • Both thrusters work fine from helm control switch
  • Bow thruster works from remote transmitter
  • Receiver power is controlled by a switch that I’ve cycled many times
  • Batteries were changed in transmitter
  • Receiver LEDs activate for both bow and stern thruster signal from transmitter, however, only bow works.

Pull fuse from receiver, open up and swap the bow and stern wires. Tiny screwdriver, take photo prior. See attachment for guidance. Fuse back in, if it works then a new remote needed. If it doesn’t, then some short or break in line from receiver to stern thruster. Also, with stern/bow batteries/s off, house battery on, pushing buttons on remote should activate front lights on receiver. At least that’s what my 30 does.

Thanks for the comeback, this is a tough one. Lewmar also told me to swap bow and stern wires, however, I hesitated to do that after I saw how small they were. They said, 'if it works, then a new receiver is needed (not remote)'. I definitely get signal LEDs on the receiver for both bow and stern thruster using the remote transmitter.

Also, where did you find a fuse? I don't see one despite a lot of looking? My receiver is not wired into the fuses panels. I have a switch for the remote at the helm.

Fuse is a 30 amp which controls all switches in that block. You can find block behind bathroom mirror. When you pull it, all four devices are dead. You should switch the wires for the test; small needle nose and good flat bladed screwdriver would work fine. I swapped my wires when I first purchased vessel, as the wires were crossed at the factory. 7 years, 2 owners later never knew about it or lived with it. I also put a lewmar anchor remote control in service for my flybridge which required complete new wiring.

I found the 30amp fuse thanks. However, after switching bow and stern thruster positions on the receiver wiring, the bow no longer worked nor the stern, so I'm thinking I must have a wiring problem between the receiver and the stern thruster.

Update: I spoke to Paul at Lewmar, US and he claims that since I'm running a Gen.1 bow thruster and a Gen. 2 stern thruster, the remote won't control both of them. That doesn't make sense to me, but, I guess I'm done for now since I'm not upgrading the bow after installing a legacy adapter to make it work.

My issue may be more fundamental in going from a Gen. 1/Black Box (ICU) to Gen. 2/Blue Box. The Bow Thruster works fine with the remote as no wiring was removed, only a legacy adapter was added to work with the new helm controller. However, new wiring was run from the helm controller to the Blue Box. I watched a Lewmar video that said to connect the wireless remote receiver to the AUX position on the Blue Box. I have NOTHING plugged into AUX and, I don't know what my mechanic did with that wiring if it exists. So, my question is:
Do you have a separate connector plugged into your Gen. 2 Blue Box?IMG_4268.jpeg

I have a gen 1 black receiver and no blue one.

This is my exact problem. I purchased my 2019 C30 with 100 hours on the engine and the stern thruster has never worked, just the blue box clicking when attempting to use the stern thruster.
After research I determined like you mentioned my bow is GEN1 and Stern GEN2. The interwebs tells me I need plug in a Lewmar Legacy Thruster Converter (Part #589842), but i think that is for upgrading the controller to legacy units, where as I want to do the reverse, i want my gen2 to work with my old legacy controllers, but want to check with you guys here first to get a better understanding what is going on and that I don’t already have one.
