I'm taking delivery of my new C30S in 2 weeks - finally after a loooong wait. Exciting times! Now, planning how to get the boat organized: Where do people put the life ring? I haven't seen any photos with it, and no post here. Any suggestions for easily accessible but not in the way locations?

Bumping post delayed in moderation queue.

I have a R29 and mounted it to the swim step rail. I put the boat logo on it to make it look like its supposed to be there!

A life ring isn't a requirement; you need one throwable and it can also be a cushion stored just about anywhere.

If you're going to go for the "ring" version, a Lifesling (they aren't cheap, but probably worth it) might be another option. Can be rail-mounted near a cleat. I think they're more popular with sailors but they are excellent devices; I've practiced with one a few times.

We kinda went overboard on this safety requirement.
We had the traditional orange toss ring and secured it to an out of the way railing or cleat in the cockpit using a 2” wide Velcro loop.
We also had several blue floatation cushions that doubled as seat cushions in the cockpit.
Finally we also had a toss line stowed in the bait well that was very easy to access.

With all that gear I’m pretty confident we met that requirement.

We have a Portland Pudgy mounted vertically on our swim deck. Thinking of strapping the ring with Boat name and home port to the back of the Pudgy. Of course I’d have to remove prior to launching.

Thanks for all your good suggestions.
Just one thing: Life ring and lifesling have different purposes: The ring is thrown to the MOB to provide floatation. It does not stay attached to the boat. The lifesling line is attached to the boat and used to get the person to the boat and back on the boat. Coming from sailing, I'd like both ;-)

My throw ring is in the same position as KathyH, which is where it was when the boat was delivered. I added a 50 ft. rope with a flotation buoy. With ample flotation, the ring and rope will stay floating even if someone inadvertently forgets to tie off the rope.
